With me being the film score fanatic, I wonder who they will hire to score the film? And with any luck, it will be orchestral instead of synth...

Thanks for the hearty welcome, Kane! Yep, I can't help but share my adoration and give a shout-out for MST3K, the fans have to stick together too!
I did see those collections for the other REH characters, but I know less about them. It seems reasonable that if I enjoy his Conan stories, how could I not enjoy the others? And I do look forward to the novellas and longer form works for Conan, just to see how REH develops the plot and action in a more measured pace, or adds further layers to the story. From the first collection, I greatly enjoyed "Queen of the Black Coast", "Frost Giant's Daughter", "The Scarlet Citadel", "Iron Shadows in the Moon" and "Tower of the Elephant". I think I would look into the other books only after finishing 3 volumes and still wanting to satisfy a Conan craving! The Dark Horse comics I will look into for those collections as well, thanks!

Hi all! Well, here I am, in my early 30's and just discovering the great Conan stories written by Howard. As I kid in the 80's, I did read some of the Marvel comic and at least started one of the novels after seeing the 1982 film, but I never was able to track down the original Howard works. With the 3 new trade paperback collections released, I decided it was time and I have now finished the 1st volume and just purchased the 2nd (Bloody Crown). I was quite impressed by the power in Howard's prose, the amazing descriptive detail and the wonderfully complex character of Conan himself. It does make me wish that either films or television would realy give it a go and actually adapt these stories faithfully! So what do I have to look forward to in the next 2 volumes? Do I even need to seek out the novels by other authors or the new comic series from Dark Horse?
And I must say, as a life long film score fan (700+ scores in my collection), Basil Poledouris's music for the original Conan film has and always will be one of my favorites!
