Conan's literary descendant has returned, and he's hoping all you Conan fans will give Empire Rising a read. Set in the early Bronze Age, the sequel to the well received Dawn of Empire has plenty of action (including one of the longest battle sequences anywhere) as Eskkar fights his way through assassins and hardened warriors to rescue his wife, Trella. There's plenty of indoor action, too, as Eskkar encounters a new woman who provides more passion than he can handle.
Give it a try, and post the feedback here. The author promises to reply to each post. Empire Rising, by Sam Barone, available at all local and online bookstores.

Conan's Literary Descendant
18 February 2007 - 12:26 AM
Hello, everyone,
First let me say how much I enjoyed finding this site. John Miller, who writes for the New Republican, published an article in the Wall Street Journal in December about the writings of Conan. Someone put me in touch with him, mentioning that Eskkar, the hero of my book, Dawn of Empire, was a true literary descendant of Conan.
Conan and Robert E. Howard's writing style definitely played a major part in the development of Eskkar, who looks and acts suspiciously like Conan. I've been a big fan of Conan for many years, and I'm convinced REH was the best action writer of all time. But I wanted to write a great adventure story about a man who thought and acted like Conan, but without the fantasy or magic. I wanted someone every reader could believe in, someone who acted realistically in real life situations.
Dawn of Empire was the result, and the reviews have been very favorable. Released only last September, it's already been published in six languages.
I would love to hear from any of you who may have read the book, with your comments, comparisons, or suggestions. A sequel has just been completed and sent off to the publisher. It will be in stores next September.
thanks again,
