Strength is a skill; you must practice a -specific- activity to be strong -at- it, whether it's an Olympic lift or swinging a bat. Why are there -no- men who are world class at -both- of these activities? If the so-called whole body training theory was true, there should be at least a few. The truth is -specificity-. Aside from that, a bigger muscle is a stronger muscle, so a combination of bodybuilding to build lean tissue, and skill training to apply the muscle effectively to your chosen activity. Even America's greatest living strongman Bill Kazmier does a lot of bodybuilding to keep as much muscle as possible.
