I am 64bit with 8GB ram but I will most likely up it to 16 using a macbook pro. I am also talking with someone that might be able to bring the other mac back to life. if he can then I can let that thing render as it is a dual quad core with 8GB of ram as well but that one is not a 64bit machine.
I did know of that extra but I when I moved it before, it went to 1024 and no further. when I was upgrading to the next build of Blender, it said that it was moving my settings but I was taking a tutorial the other day that reminded me of this setting and when I checked it. it was back to 128 so you can imagine my surprise when it didn't stop at 1024 but kept climbing ![]()

Looks as though I will be able to do this animation on my laptop after all. For all those who are using Blender. in user preference, under system, if you scroll down to the bottom, there is a memory cache limit setting which is 128 default, I knew of this from previous Blends but you could only up it to 1024 and that was the ones that didn't let me do what I needed, system crashing and all but this new Blender let me turn it up to 32768 and so far so good. I don't have the original file that was crashing the system but I can move forward with the animation and just enjoy doing my art. I will still need to hire talent score and sound design but with the ability to work and the help of CromsBlood on the rendering, I may be able to pull this animation off.

motion capture is rotoscoping for the computer, computer images can be made to look like cell animation if that is the look that one wants. Here is the look I am going for in my animation
