About Me
Hello,
I'm a Texan working in the IT field for a number of years. I'm also a family man and I love to watch movies and to dabble around with story ideas that I hope to convert to novels in the far future. I love the genre of Sci-fi and Fantasy but I'm kind of picky about what I read and watch. I got into REH via "Conan", more specifically, "Savage Sword of Conan" while I was in elementary school. I moved up to reading a Jordan novel and a De Camp novel before reading any true REH. I eventually got into Kull and then Solomon Kane (Red Bones).
I have really gotten into Tolkien lately, primarily The Silmarillion. The history, characters, tragedy is very well thought out. I've gotten back into Narnia because of the movies.
I also enjoy anime (most recently Samurai Champloo) and have seen most of the classics such as Akira, Wings of Honneamise, Ninja Scroll, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Ghost in the Shell, Sword of Truth, Vampire Hunter D, BioHunter, etc...
I was a kid when the original Star Wars trilogy came out, so I'm a fan but not a huge fanboy of the resent stuff although ROS was cool. I'm a semi-trekkie. I grew up on the OS reruns but I only liked the last two to three seasons of NextGen. I did like almost all of DS9. I also grew up watching old Dr. Who reruns on the local PBS station. I liked the Tom Baker portrayal and the cheap effects and sets. It was very entertaining. I have watched Babylon 5 all the way through 3 times and it is my favorite sci-fi show to date. Other shows that I have watched on and off are The Dead Zone, The X-files, and a little Star Trek Voyager and Millennium.
My other "thing", is Martial Arts. I have studied the history of many different styles and found them very intriguing. Unfortunately, my time is limited, and I have studied only style briefly which is Long Fist. I enjoy American style professional football and have participated in a fantasy football league with friends every year for the past 9 years.
Finally, I'm a follower of Jesus of Nazareth (a Christian) and try to pattern my live accordingly. I am willing to talk about my faith but I don't bring it up often. I try go with the maxim attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel always, and if necessary use words."
