Let me put this logically: Anyone ever think that this my be near the opening when Conan is just starting to leave home? Remeber his father is the local blacksmith so that Manica might be a departure gift he might lose, he might lose the Pteruges also since it's out of context we don't know and especially since it's shot on a crappy camera phone(if not a very low quality camera) and as for the young trees the road looks like one that's well traveled so that might be an explanation.

Those all look WAY too clean the vegetation on the shots with some are way too young looking.
