Entertaining article, actually. I especially like that Conan is described as "genuinely smart and cunning." Someone knows what he's talking about!

+1 on that!

Plus if Conan is only the second most ludicrously "Manly Fantasy" then I think I'll be checking out "The Chronicles of Gor"

Rargentum,  here's a very good tutorial about planche progression.

Thanks, I've found a few interesting videos on youtube.

It's been really slow going but I'm finally starting to make some progress.

There will be video when I manage it :-)

ATOR The Fighting eagle.

It awful B-movie fun.

There's a couple of sequels on there too.

If you're in a hurry skip to the end to see our hero bashing a giant rubber spider with his sword!

The third Ator film Iron Warrior pops up occassionally on the MGM-HD Channel.  Pretty dull to be honest.  The first sequel is the basis for one of my favorite MST3K episodes, plus the "new" credits for Cave Dwellers led me to search out the Taur films.  Didn't find a complete version, but there are highlights out there.

There are now LOADS of complete films on YT, so many that I never had a chance to see when I was younger.  The one peplum that I haven't found a complete version of yet is Son of Cleopatra (the whipping scene is there).  It was on back in the late 70s/early 80s on the afternoon movie on WNEP in Wilkes Barre, PA (might have been part of the Bowling For Dollars show).  My cousin and I saw the commercials and we were pumped to watch it.  Then, as 10 year olds often do, we propmtly forgot about it and went outside.  So I've always felt it was a "missing" part of my childhood.

I hadn't realised there were so many full length movies on youtube until recently either.

I got very excited when I found STARCRASH, the first movie I saw on VHS when my parents got one when I was a kid.

There's also an interesting relativelly new subculture move called street workout where the guys and girls of course do a bodyweight calisthenics outside, mostly in the public playgrounds using.... well... look for yourself...

Pretty much insane upper body control, coordination and strength although they can lack some leg work in these videos but it can easilly be added through some stuff like lunges, one leg squats and various plyometric work that can be found in many track and field programs. For such stuff, the track and field power developing workouts Werner Gunthor's preparation physique is one of a good sources.
However the beauty of these street workouts, and gymnastics in general is that you can do your workouts virtually anywhere.

That stuff is incredible.

I've been trying to do a Planche push-up for a while now and that has been really slow going.

Has anybody else got any experience/advice for training to do a planche?

some are born with the spirit of the storm in their blood, restless harbingers of violence and boodshed, knowing no other path...

Ludicrous apha male waffle, but so well put.
