Turko,

Sorry I did not get these posted last night. Exhaustion and a soft sofa lead to falling asleep much earlier then I expected.

First I would recommend all three of the Kane novels. The quality varies, but, imo, all three of them are worth the time to read.

Bloodstone, Dark Crusade, and, Darkness Weaves.

While the short stories do not contain as much Lovecraftian creatures, several are still good for their horror elements and creepyness.

Mirage

The Dark Muse

Lynortis Reprise

Misericorde

I would recommend reading all the stories. IMO, Kane is the next great sword and sorcery character after Howard's creations.

the only problem being that the collections and novels are currently Out Of Print. And my understanding is that the Wagner estate is dragging their feet on allowing them to be reprinted.

So you may have to spend some time and money getting them.

+1 on this. I'm still new to REH & his characters, however, ever since I've heard of the Kane stories, from this forum in particular, I checked on Amazon & was lucky enough to get used copies of both Dark Crusade & Bloodstone, in great condition thankfully. I read Darkness Weaves (in pdf format), Dark Crusade & I'm currently reading Bloodstone. Kane is just as interesting and badass as Conan is (maybe even slightly more) and it's just awesome reading these stories considering how I've also became interested in the Cthulhu mythos as well.

Nevertheless, I definitely recommend all three Kane novels. Also, I heard that Centipede Press is reprinting the Kane novels and stories, does anyone know when these reprints will be released??

Sigh, really wish I would've began reading this series earlier. Lots of fans say A Storm of Swords is the best book & I feel like I'm missing out by just watching the show instead of reading the book first then watching (I'm on ch. 21 of ACOK). It's no big deal I suppose, I'm just kicking myself for not getting into the series sooner.

It definitely is the best book of the series, but I think it would also be fun for you to go back and read it after watching the show.  There are plenty of differences between the books and show, lots of character thoughts and insights to read, and plenty of backstory you wouldn't get otherwise.

Ah I see. I'm not gonna worry about trying to catch up to the show anymore (these books are very time consuming!). I'm just gonna watch the show & continue to read at my own pace. I'll more than likely be done with the series anyway by the time Season 4 releases  :). The Books have been better than the show anyway (except the first book, that was slow as hell).

Thanks for the replies everyone! After careful thought I've decided to just stick with the Del Ray books instead of the gollancz book. The Del Rays contain more information on REH & much more extras on the stories & the character than the gollancz book does.

I finished reading (actually listening to) A Game of Thrones. I actually watched the first two seasons before reading any of the books (I Really Really Wish I Read the Books Before this series was made into a show ). Anyway I'm on chapter 13 of A Clash of Kings, should I continue to read/listen (they're audiobooks btw) to this book or can I skip to A Storm of Swords??

I didn't feel many differences between the first book & the tv show, except that you get a better understanding of the characters backstories a bit & it's more detailed. Honestly, the real reason why I wanna skip to ASOS is because I desire to catch up to the third book & finish it so that I know everything about this season before they show it (I actually know a good bit about the third book, what happens during The Red Wedding & some other deaths & events  :D). I just wanna get to ASOS already to be honest lol.
