Green Asbestos, Very Funny

02 September 2005 - 05:04 PM

I was recently rewatching CTB, and during the orgy scene I actually tried to make out what the hell those operatic fat guys carrying the soup were singing about. Sad to say the only words I could pick up clearly were 'green asbestos' and 'very funny.' Now this strikes me as somewhat odd, but then again I believe I'm correct in thinking that Poledouris wrote the lyrics in English, not Latin. Therefore, it wouldn't surprise me if he snuck in a few words that were somewhat contrary to the period in which the film is set. It would be interesting to see the full lyrics of the piece anyway.

Incidentally, apologies if this thread has come up before but my search turned up nothing.

Howard And Reincarnation

15 March 2005 - 04:48 PM

I recall some scenes in REH stories where characters experience their past lives, specifically People of the Black Circle and Valley of the Worm. This stuck me as pretty interesting views for the time it was written and I was wondering what were REH's spiritual beliefs on reincarnation? I know he had extensive correspondence with HP Levecraft, but did Howard believe it himself?
