Unfortunately my comic distributor did not pick up on the free comic day because he had to pay for it. Not only that, he would have had to buy 100 of each of the 12 free comics being given out to the tune of 600 bucks. His client base wouldn't support that...50 cents each (Canadian).
That being said, I don't have a copy, so if any kind soul has an extra one, I'd be willing to purchase a copy. Email me at findangoottawa@yahoo.com please...

Jason

This is fantastic, John Maddox Roberts checking into our board. I agree that you wrote some of the better pastiches about our favourite Cimmerian. I have a non-Conan question though....
Some time after you stopped writing Conan, you came out with The Stormlands series starting with The Islander. Were there more than five books written in this series? I enjoyed it very much.

Jason

Since you mentioned the use of weapons, made out of steel, iron or bronze, alloys etc etc. But regardless, these things would be heavy just to hold, but when swung, they would multiply their weight, depending on balance.
I am a competitive armwrestler...and I have seen some guys who would potentially make a good 'Conan' type. These guys have thick wrists and arms, are not necessarily bodybuilders, but have hyper developed arms and thick masses of tendons. They don't LOOK necessarily bulky or artificial, just hammered out from years of training. Much like a blacksmith would. And these guys are strong, fast and flexible as you need to be on an armwrestling table.
One fellow I train with, world competitive, he stands 6'6" tall and weighs around 230. Massive arms, but yet slimmer waist and slimmer legs. Broad shoulders etc etc. That is how I envision our Cimmerian, perhaps around 250 and that tall. I'm six feet tall and around 300, but this man towers over everyone.
Just my two cents to offer, but basically we need to see a more athletic type than someone who focuses only on muscle development. Conan is a paragon of strength in things endurance, cardio, AND strength. Hard to match even in today's world.
Cheers,
Jason

You guys have made some good choices. I think Nathan Jones could LOOK the part, but he is a little large standing at nearly seven feet tall. I don't think he could move in a pantherish fashion, but it could be possible. He's also getting older now.
Paul Telfer, a bit pretty and a bit short, but he does look like one of the better candidates for sure.
I rented Dickie Roberts Child Star to check out Sasha Mitchell. Wow, he's huge now, but that surfer accent still comes through. He might be an option...
I think in the end, it is going to require casting an unknown athlete.

Jason

I listen to Manowar as well. There is a connection but only on a basic level I think. They are serious musicians, but at the same time I can't take it quite literally. Much like when reading certain fantasy, you have to suspend your disbelief, you have to listen to Manowar the same way. Sort of immerse yourself into the music and go from there. Hard to explain. When I see them live, I let myself go, but if it comes down to real life, I certainly don't live what they sing about.
